After completing residency, Dr. Hohertz returned to his home state where he worked in a high acuity cardiac/stroke center in Fort Worth while teaching students & residents. Yet, Texas couldn't hold him & he tested the waters in the newly built UAMS ED, working a weekend a month in 2009. He returned to UAMS in full capacity in 2010 as an assistant professor, drawn back by his mentors & friends, as well as a desire to teach in the emergency medicine residency he loved. Dr. Hohertz's main interest is emergency ultrasound & he served as director of ultrasound 2012-2013 & continues to help advance the ultrasound program. He has travelled with Dr. Bean internationally, teaching ultrasound & lecturing in the global arena. As his interests also include global medicine, he is a member of the medical team led by Dr. Bean that travels annually to Limon, Honduras to staff a rural primary care clinic & provide care to outlying towns along the Mosquito Coast.
